Anderson came into that game with about 10 RBI on the season. Embarrassing for the Yanks.
I well remember the A-Rod game, he crushed Bartolo Colon and made him cry.

Anderson has 40 RBI before that game, and added 30 after, for a season total of 80.

Damn you B-R. No one can ever exaggerate again, because these "facts" are too easy to find.

"No one can ever exaggerate again..."
Congrats - you did it!

Speaking of no more exaggerations, and 10 rbi seasons, I mention this here because there's nowhere else to put it, but the other day I noticed Andruw Jones has an OPS+ of 34, which means besides Mike Dukakis, no one's fallen off the face of the Earth faster...

The all-time record is 12, set by Jim Bottomley, 16 September 1924, and tied by Whiten. The American League record is 11, by Tony Lazzeri, 24 May 1936.

The other 10-RBI games before 1956 were
Rudy York, 27 July 1946
Norm Zauchin, 27 May 1955
Wilbert Robinson, 10 June 1892 (11 RBI)
Phil Weintraub, 30 April 1944 (11 RBI)
Walker Cooper, 6 July 1949.

Anderson concluded his 10 RBI day with an 8th inning groundout with 2 runners on. A HR would have given him 13. He admitted after the game he was actually trying for a HR since the score was 18-5 at the time.
And Johnny Twisto, when you mention his 80 RBI season, it would be nice to mention it was in 108 games. That works out to 120/162games.

The last damn thing we need is another fight about Garret Anderson!

Yes Spartan, Anderson hadn't been quite as terrible as I made him out to be. Still, he entered the Yankee game as a corner OF with 40 RBI near the end of August. Even though he had only played 75 games to that point, that still wasn't good. After the 8/21 game, he averaged an RBI per game through the end of the season, making his final numbers respectable. Before that he was having a bad season, which is why it infuriated me to see him explode like that against my team.
Sorry Andy! Andy...Anderson...Andyson...hmmm....

Yes Johnny you just nailed the difference between his pplaying healthy, and his playing with an injured foot.
I too am bothered by his OPS* of 60 with the bases empty this year; but I will gladly take his OPS+153 with runners on base.
And in the interest in avoiding contrevery, I hereby announce that I will voluntarily refrain from posting anything that directly or indirectly relates to Garret Anderson for the next 7 days.
So, what does everyone think of that Sarah Palin?

One word, and it rhymes with PILF.
