Bloops: Mark Teixeira’s Texas Estate For Sale (Again)
Posted by Neil Paine on May 23, 2010
In the offseason after Mark Teixeira was traded from the Texas Rangers to the Atlanta Braves, he put his huge Westlake, TX estate on the market for $5.75 million. Unfortunately, that was around the time the housing bubble burst, so Teixeira & his wife held off on selling, made some nice improvements, and now the estate is back on the market (albeit for $4.55M). Luxist has the details on the renovated Teixeira home:
"The Vaquero development offers residents a Tom Fazio golf course, swim center, fishing ponds a fitness center and a clubhouse. The house itself has four bedrooms and is nearly 7,000 square feet. Teixeira and his wife purchased the home in 2005 for $3.99 million. The home has a nice negative-edge pool with a nice outdoor entertaining area. The master suite has a gas fireplace and a large patio with an infinity-pool style hot tub. One of the nicest features is that the home theater opens directly out to the patio which has a fireplace, seating area and bar."

Meh... that's the type of place you get when you've gotten your first raise but are still only 25 years old. 🙂 I assume since he's selling this place that he's looking for a place more fitting for his $20M salary. What is the new place going to look like?

Players should never buy a house that costs more than the avg MLB salary until after free agency.
