The perfect game score of 93 is pretty low. In Raphy's list from yesterday, the only perfect game since 1952 with a lower game score is Dennis Martinez's from 1991. If I remember my game-scoring rules properly, the only differentiating factor among perfect games is the number of strikeouts. Braden had only 6. There's nothing particularly wrong with 5 strikeouts, but totals that low are rare in perfect games because it means more balls were put into play. The more balls in play, the better chances of a hit.

Very democratic of Braden to allow his defense to record 21 outs. Now, will he stop getting all the credit for the perfect game?
If you think about it, the only true perfect game would be if the pitcher recorded all 27 putouts himself. The MLB record is 7, set by Greg Maddux in 1990.
That's pretty impressive, but as Maddux found out in his long career a perfect game or a no-hitter is more likely if you simply play catch with your catcher. I don't believe Maddux ever threw a no-hit game.
