Best Last Season (Hitters Only)

Last year might've been Barry Bonds' last year. He had 99 RC. How does that rank up?
Pretty well. I had to limit it to 1871-2006 because everyone who played in 2007 had their last season then. Bonds would be near the top, but he's no Shoeless Joe.
How 'bout that David Orr?

I don't think Nick Johnson would be too happy if 2006 was his last season 🙂 . Selecting "no" in the active section gets rid of him.

Is it possible that "no" was selected but Johnson came up because he didn't play in 2007?

kingturtle- The active option doesn't seem to work that way. They must tag players as being inactive. Here's the search with "no" selected under active: http://www.bb-ref.com/pi/shareit/H2ZJ (It works the same if 2006 is selected as the final year)

RC doesn't take era into account. Mickey Mantle's last season was about as good as Will Clark's but comes out 30 places lower because of the difference between 1968 and 2000.

B-R.com needs to make Batting Runs a filterable option in the Play Index.

As I read it, 1-9 are 3 Black Sox, 3 stopped by injury/illness, and the trio of Will Clark, Ted Williams, and Barry Bonds.
Will Clark had nagging injuries and he couldn't hit left-handers at all in his final season. Still. . . . Did he retire because of injury or because he had so much money he could never spend it all?

Barry Bonds would be pretty close to Shoeless Joe if the criterion were OPS+. Jackson 172, Bonds 170.
