The link for Black now goes to Purple. I had wondered who Black would be, with both Joe and Bud coming to mind.
It was fun to try to guess some of these before clicking on them. For two consecutive ones, Gray and Rose, I guessed wrong both times using the same first name. (Think one-armed outfielder here.)
For Blue, I guessed a switch hitter who threw lefthanded and was BORN on July 28. The one who actually came up was a a lefthanded throwing switch hitter who DIED on July 28.
The one for Coral was not anyone I had heard of before, but with Jackie Robinson on my mind yesterday and today, Ken Gables' January 31, 1919, birthdate stood out. But Gables' major league career ended five days after Robinson's began.
For Salmon, I guessed either Chico or Tim, and it was indeed one of them.
I'm going to post this now before trying some that others have posted.

The ones posted by Kahuna Tuna have an extra double quote mark at the end, so they are going to a page marked "No Such Player". Would it be possible for someone to fix these? Or maybe my Internet Explorer 7.0 browser is too outdated and unhip to reconcile something like this.

Damn. I was trying to be so careful about the syntax, too! I'm not very proficient in HTML. I pasted my entry from a Word document, and I think the double quote marks were pasted into the message box as characters different from those recognized by HTML for placing around target URLs.
So — a test of my theory: Almond

I've got purple and black fixed now. Black goes to Buddy Black, who I always knew as Bud Black. I find "Buddy" really weird.
