my wife is gonna be mad « Scott Simkus
Scott, Gary Ashwill and I have put together an agreement that is going to put some of the first publicly available Negro League data on the web. See the article for the full rundown, but I'm very excited to be working with Gary and Scott on this project. April is the goal date, though naturally this is a busy time for me, but I think we can get that done.

This is outstanding news. I thought you had written a few months ago that you doubted you would ever have Negro League stats. Very glad that changed.

This is awesome. I've been digging around the net for Negro League stats for years and can't really come up with much.

Indeed this is fantastic news. I'm not sure I've ever seen Negro League stats at all, and I am really looking forward to digging in.

There were some Negro League stats floating around the Hall of Merit back when they were voting on players from that era. There was a broader range in season length and offensive context than I expected. It took a fair amount of massaging of the data to create MLE's. But really anything would be great. Even just rosters would be great. 🙂
Plus, I'm sure there's more available now than there was at the HOM a few years ago and just having data posted here and readily available is a great motivator for collecting even more data.

Really great news. Google's News Archive is also a good place if you're looking for lineups/positions played (e.g. typing in Pittsburgh Crawfords will pull up some game results including batting order for said game).
They won't be that valuable unless you have the sanity for trying to create game by game results but they could be good for lineups/batting orders/positions played.
