Of course, guys like Willie Davis, Maury Wills, Don Kessinger, Luis Aparicio, Tommie Agee and Tony Taylor posted a lot of these games when pitchers ruled the earth and many batters were fitted for collars. Others like Andre Dawson, Devon White, Lou Whitaker, Edgar Renteria and Lloyd Moseby can't make that excuse.

Two things:
1. You should have done plate appearances appearences since it includes walks.
2. What're you, Homes?

ImAShark5, they clearly have no walks, so I don't see how that's a difference.
What I would like to know is how Dawson got 4 RBI in those games - I see one SF and one GIDP, but I would imagine that's very unlikely to account for more than 2 RBI, and almost certainly not 4. If that's all it is, I'd be interested to know what the plays were that made that happen, and if not, how else did he get those RBI?

Without checking, I would imagine there were a couple of fielder's choice type ground balls: less than two out, man on third scores on a slow roller, the infielder gets the sure out at first allowing the run to score. That's an RBI, but not a hit, walk or sacrifice. One of the oddities of baseball scorekeeping is that a fly ball out that scored a run is a "sacrifice" and an RBI, but a ground ball that scores a run is just an out, though still an RBI.

Easy to check. One sac fly, three groundouts. This is why we have BR.com.

Also, I'm pretty sure a hitter cannot get an RBI on a GIDP.
