Splitting Time: Most Games Played in a Season for 3 Franchises
Posted by Raphy on August 19, 2009
Adam LaRoche is a well traveled man. He started the season with the Pirates, was traded on July 22nd to the Red Sox and then flipped just nine days later to the Braves. Yet, through it all LaRoche has played. This season he has chalked up 108 games played and will surely participate in a significant number of the Brave's remaining 43 games. Here are all the players since 1901 to play for 3 different franchises and still play at least 130 games.

A couple of notes:
- Ziele, the master of moving, was traded for Piazza. He managed to play at least 40 games for 3 different teams that year.
- Kingman and Martinez each played for 4 major league teams in 1 season. Since 1901 only 10 players have been subjected to this fate. You can read more about them in my post from last January.

Doesn't meet your 3-team requirement, but Irv Waldron pulled off a nice stunt in 1901 when he played in 141 games in a season in which no team played more than 139. Traded midseason between teams whose schedules were out of alignment, and didn't miss many (if any!) games for either of his teams.

Ryan Langerhans came close in 2007 (125 games for 3 teams).
