Photo Updates for Player Mug Shots
Posted by Sean Forman on July 18, 2011
Thanks to Dave Davis and lots of bug reports from users we've updated the photos on the site with about 4,000 new images. This includes some previously missing images and some corrected images for players that were previously incorrectly identified.
As I've stated earlier I use pre-1960 images for copyright reasons, though I'm always looking through our options as head shots for every player would be a wonderful addition.

This slightly off-topic, but is there anyway you could caption the photos that pop-up as the Play index is performing a search?
i want to know who those people are.
Thanks

I bet that Tim Wakefield is awesome, he makes it easy for you. Been pitching so long, that the pre-1960 shot of him, is still a current one!!

check out the wikipedia commons:

or search flickr.
Wikipedia uses ONLY non-copyrighted images and flickr has lots of public domain images.

Not to mention Jamie Moyer... the pity with Moyer is that there aren't any pictures of his early years in the majors because photography hadn't been invented yet.
Ok, that's just a bit of an exaggeration.

Scott,
I know there are in many cases photos out there. It's just hard to justify the time for creating the head shots.

I agree with Spartan Bill. I especially wonder who is the guy facing directly at the camera with a New York uniform, hair parted down the middle, flattened nose and one eye slightly larger than the other.

I wonder if there are any *genuine* mug shots?

@8 - Maybe of Lenny Dykstra or Pete Rose. Oh, and Roger Clemens, too.
