Biographical Information

Tim Stanford was a minor league pitcher for four years.

Stanford pitched for the Australian team that won the Bronze Medal in the 2005 World Youth Championship. He was signed by Texas Rangers scout Jim Colborn in December 2007. He was 2-0 with a save for the 2008 AZL Rangers, but had a 7.52 ERA and 1.92 WHIP. He did strike out 21 in 20 1/3 IP. Demoted to the DSL Rangers 2, he went 3-1 with a 3.69 ERA in 23 games in 2009; he teamed with Luis Polanco and Francisco Mendoza on a six-inning combined no-hitter against the DSL Braves on July 1. In 2010, the 21-year-old starred for the Spokane Indians (6-0, 1.66, 0.99 WHIP). He tied Matt Branham and Tyler Rogers for 5th in the Northwest League in wins and would have led in ERA had he qualified. Things turned worse in 2011, though, and he fared poorly for the AZL Rangers (Sv, 4 R, 3 HB, 3 WP, 4 BB, 7 H in 5 2/3 IP) and Spokane (14 H, 7 R, 4 BB, 8 K in 9 1/3 IP). He ended his pro career 11-1 with two saves and a 3.78 ERA in 63 games (7 starts). In 128 2/3 IP, he allowed 141 hits and 36 walks while striking out 113.
