Julian "Tike" Redman played in the majors between 2000 and 2007. He hit over .300 several times. In 2010 he played in Mexico and hit well.

Redman was born in Tuscaloosa, AL and went to high school there. He and Juan Pierre were both born in Alabama in 1977, although in different towns.

He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the fifth round of the 1996 amateur draft and hit .296 that first summer, split between two teams. He showed some ability to steal bases, and continued to steal and hit triples as he spent 1997 and 1998 with the Lynchburg Hillcats. The year 1999, he was with the Altoona Curve, and then he spent parts of each year from 2000 to 2003 with the Nashville Sounds.

The Pirates brought him up in 2000 for 9 games, and he responded with a batting line of .333/.368/.556. The following year, in 2001, he got into 37 games for the Pirates but hit .224. He was in the minors all of 2002 but in 2003 he played well during his time in the majors, hitting .330/.374/.483 in 56 games (230 at-bats).

That got him a regular job in 2004 and 2005. For the Pirates in 2004, he hit .280 in 155 games, stealing 18 bases while getting caught only 6 times. He played exclusively center field. In 2005, he slipped to .251 in 135 games.

During the next couple of years he was tossed around like a ball on the rapids. The Pirates sold him to the New York Mets, who released him a few months later. The Detroit Tigers, Houston Astros and Boston Red Sox all signed him, and after a few months each released him or let him file for free agency.

In the minors during 2006 he played for the Corpus Christi Hooks and Toledo Mud Hens.

The Baltimore Orioles signed him in May 2007 and he split time between their minor league organization and the majors. In the minors he played a few games for the York Revolution but mostly played for the Norfolk Tides, where he hit .304. In the majors with the Orioles he did quite well, hitting .318 and slugging .462 in 40 games.

The Orioles kept him in the minors in 2008, where he hit .292 for Norfolk. After the season he became a free agent and played independent ball with the Newark Bears for most of 2009. The Milwaukee Brewers signed him in August and he played 15 games for Nashville that year. Although he played well in spring training 2010 the Brewers released him on April 1st.

In 2010 he was in the Mexican League with the Olmecas de Tabasco, where he hit .355 in 62 games.

He is the brother of Prentice Redman, who is a couple of years younger than Tike.
