- 1942 - Joe Gordon wins the 1942 American League Most Valuable Player Award even though Ted Williams had won the Triple Crown.
- 1965 - Lew Krausse (pictured) of the Leones del Caracas strikes out 21 batters in a Venezuelan Winter League game, including ten in a row, in pitching a one-hitter.
- 2001 - The Diamondbacks pound Andy Pettitte and the Yankee staff for a World Series-record 21 hits in the first six innings in a 15-2 Game 6 rout. Randy Johnson gets the win.
