- 1947 - Ewell Blackwell almost throws a second consecutive no-hitter. With one out in the 9th, Eddie Stanky ruins the bid with a single.
- 1962 - Stan Musial (pictured) becomes the all-time leader in total bases with 5,864. He breaks Ty Cobb's mark. He still ranks third all-time, as only Hank Aaron and Albert Pujols have passed him since.
- 1965 - Ray Barker ties the major league record with a pinch-hit home run for the second straight appearance.
- 1976 - Randy Jones reaches 68 consecutive innings without issuing a walk, breaking the 63-year-old National League record held by Christy Mathewson. Marc Hill snaps the streak leading off the 8th inning.
- 1993 - Carlton Fisk catches his 2,226nd game, breaking Bob Boone's all-time record for games caught.
