February 15: Today's featured birthday is that of Brian Williams, who turns 55.
- 1927 - The Athletics use seven future Hall of Famers simultaneously in one game, employing Lefty Grove on the mound, Jimmie Foxx at first, Eddie Collins Sr. at second, an outfield of Ty Cobb, Al Simmons and Zach Wheat, and Mickey Cochrane as a pinch-hitter, remaining in the game at catcher.
- 1974 - Mel Stottlemyre sets a then-American League record by making his 272nd consecutive start without pitching a game in relief.
- 1985 - Von Hayes (pictured) hits two home runs in the 1st inning, the first major leaguer to do so. The Phillies rout the Mets, 26-7.
- 1988 - Rick Rhoden becomes the first AL pitcher to start a game as a Designated Hitter.
- 1990 - Nolan Ryan throws a no-hitter in a third decade, the first player in major league history to do so.
