Steve, why don't you try your hand at writing an article on the team ? If you put in the information, some of us can help with the formatting and adding the correct stats. Was Harry Parker the same one who pitched for the Mets in the mid '70's ? --Philippe 10:42, 24 Apr 2006 (EDT)

There was no Harry Parker on the team. The other names are all legit though. --Jeff 17:40, 17 July 2008 (EDT)

Steve, This is Joe Laniak, a southpaw pitcher who toiled along with you and the rest of the McAllen Dusters that summer in 77. I recall your tall frame being rather initmidating to opposing batters. Some names I recall are Big Jim Willis, a power hitting 1st Baseman from Oregon, Perry Brown, a pitcher from Texas, Gary Grunsky, pitcher from California, Tommy Linnert, lefty from Ca also. We had a guy who had played with the Indianapolis Clowns, but I can't remember his name. There was Gerry Murray a shortstop from PA I believe, Joey Chirico, a catcher from NY, Ted Sainz, I think was a local boy. We had a couple of Kansas guys, Carl Heinrich was one. Think he was a catcher. I believe the Harry in question was the other, though can't recall his last name. We had a speedster named Sterling (first of last name), who later played for Harlingin. And then there were our leaders, Shannon Kelly, GM and then Mgr when our first mgr either quit or was fired, that was Mike Krysmanich(sp ?), who later starred and managed in the Carolina League, a top flight A league in the Mid-Atlantic Region. There was Jack Allen, who tried to whip us into shape by declaring morning workouts for two hours every morning. I can't recall whether that enhanced our winning percentage or not. Some highlights were meeting Mickey Mantle before a game in Corpus Christie, seeing him hobble to the plate and take a few swings. The good crowds we had througout the summer. Being tossed by a homeplate umpire in the sixth inning of a game for cussing him because he was repeatedly missing my curve ball. Throwing a great game against Beeville with my brother and girlfriend visiting from DC area. Well, hope this spurs some participation from others of our one summer in the southern Texas heat. It was an interesting summer, not far from the Bull Durham visage of minor league baseball.
