Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Stephen Faris played in the San Diego Padres system from 2006 to 2009. He was taken by the club in the 12th round of the 2006 amateur draft, a couple picks after pitcher Cole Kimball. He was signed by scout Pete DeYoung. He reached Triple-A for the first and only time in 2007—if only for a game—and went 9-7 with a 4.27 ERA in 24 games (20 starts) overall. The next year, he went 8-5 with a 3.85 ERA in 26 starts for the San Antonio Missions.

Overall, Faris went 23-24 with a 4.24 ERA in 99 games (69 starts). In 411 2/3 innings, he allowed 442 hits and 127 walks (1.382 WHIP), while striking out 257 batters.
