Biographical Information

Infielder Sean Kazmar, also known as Sean Kazmar Jr., appeared in 19 games for the San Diego Padres in 2008 at age 23, hitting .205 with 2 RBIs. He appeared in 15 games at shortstop and two at second base.

He was then out of the major leagues for the next 12 full seasons before he made his return to the Show on April 17, 2021, with the Atlanta Braves, when he grounded into a double play as a pinch-hitter. It had been more than 60 years since there had been such a long gap between major league appearances, when Ralph Winegarner went over 13 years between appearances. It was also a long way away from Paul Schreiber's record 22-year gap. Between his two appearances, he had played in AAA every single year - except for 2020, when the minor leagues were shut down by the Coronavirus pandemic, including seven straight seasons with the Gwinnett Braves/Stripers from 2013 to 2019.

Kazmar became a hitting coach with the ACL Angels in 2022 and Rocket City Trash Pandas in 2023. After the latter season he worked as a coach for the Scottsdale Scorpions in the Arizona Fall League. Kazmar served as the Angels' minor league assistant field coordinator in 2024.
