With the Billings Mustangs in 1982, Jones went 3-3 with a 7.41 ERA in eight games (seven starts), allowing 46 hits and 27 walks in 34 innings. He split 1983 between the Eugene Emeralds and Cedar Rapids Reds in 1983, going 3-2 with a 4.95 mark in 13 games (nine starts), allowing 42 hits and 46 walks in 43 2/3 innings. In 1984, his final campaign, Jones was 4-4 with a 4.54 ERA in 17 games (10 starts) between the GCL Reds and Tampa Tarpons, allowing 57 hits and 49 walks in 69 1/3 innings.
Overall, Jones went 10-9 with a 5.33 ERA in 38 games (26 starts). In 147 innings, he allowed 145 hits and 122 walks; he also had 129 strikeouts for a respectable 7.9 K/9 IP ratio.
