Roosevelt Stadium

Built in 1936 and opened on April 23, 1937, Roosevelt Stadium was the home of the Jersey City Giants of the International League from 1937 to 1950 and was the site of seven Brooklyn Dodgers home games in 1956 and eight more in 1957.

Located in Jersey City, New Jersey, the ballpark was situated on nineteen acres on Droyer's Point by Newark Bay, near Danforth and West Side Avenues. The park was named after Franklin Delano Roosevelt and held approximately 25,000 fans.

It was the site of Jackie Robinson's professional minor league debut on April 18, 1946, when the Montreal Royals took on the Giants. Robinson hit a three-run homer, three singles, stole two bases, and had four runs batted in.

Roosevelt Stadium was demolished in 1985.
