Professional baseball record for batting average

From BR Bullpen

While it is acknowledged that Ty Cobb is the all time leader in batting average in the major leagues, Cobb does not hold the title for all of organized baseball. Cobb's .306 minor league average marginally drops him behind both Ox Eckhardt and Ike Boone two stars of the Pacific Coast League in the 1920s and 1930s.
