Biographical Information[edit]

Pablo Fernández has been a pitcher for the Perros de Holguín.

Fernández debuted in 2007-2008, going 2-5 with a 5.12 ERA and .325 opponent average. In 2008-2009, the right-hander put up similar numbers - 3-6, 5.13, .316 opponent average. During 2009-2010, Pablo became the Perros' closer, going 5-1 with 10 saves and a 3.78 ERA. He tied for 6th in the Cuban Serie Nacional in saves with Yormani Socarras and José A. García. In 2010-2011, the youngster went 1-1 with two saves and a 4.20 ERA, being limited to eight appearances.

His rise continued in 2011-2012. He won the All-Star Game for the Orientales in a 8-7 victory. Then, on March 13, he entered in the 10th inning of a 1-0 contest, relieving Raimar Navarro, who had thrown a no-hitter but had walked 8 in the first nine innings. Fernández went 1-2-3 for his 15th save of the year, locking up the first extra inning no-hitter in Cuban history as well as the third combined no-no and first since 1979.
