Biographical Information

Nook Logan played four years in the major leagues, with the Detroit Tigers in 2004 and 2005, and the Washington Nationals in 2006 and 2007. He started 2005 as a backup but got playing time when Magglio Ordonez was injured. He hit .300 in 2006.

Logan was born in Mississippi and still resides there. He attended Copiah-Lincoln Community College, and went with the Tigers in the 3rd round of the 2000 amateur draft after having been previously selected in the 40th round in 1998 by the New York Yankees.

He was a shortstop in the rookie Gulf Coast League in 2000, but thereafter was an outfielder. In the majors, he was a centerfielder.

His minor league career in organized baseball was exclusively in the Tigers' organization, but he also played in the independent leagues in 2008 and 2010. His lifetime minor league average was .262, and he hit as high as .279 (he once hit .333 in 11 games). He hit .268 in the majors.

He was a minor league base-stealer, stealing 266 in the minors, with a high of 67 in the Midwest League in 128 games. In the majors, he stole 56 bases, getting caught only 14 times, in 321 games. He was 9th in the American League in stolen bases in 2005.

While he had little power, his outstanding speed allowed him to hit 12 triples during his major league career.
