Biographical Information[edit]
After serving in the Navy during World War II, catcher Nick Adzick signed with the St. Louis Cardinals. He played four years in their organization, advancing from Class D to Triple A. With the Omaha Cardinals in 1950, he hit .267 and was a Western League All-Star. However, an injury ended his pro career the next year.
After his baseball days, Adzick graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1953. For many years, he was a high school teacher and baseball coach. He also later played semi-pro baseball in the Nebraska Independent League with North Platte team. Nick was later inducted into the Nebraska Baseball Hall of Fame.
Adzick is also known for hitting the first home run in Rosenblatt Stadium.
