Between 1914 and 1994, there was less than one full year of professional baseball in Newburgh, NY. That was in 1946, when the Newburgh Hummingbirds were charter members of the North Atlantic League. They did not last out the campaign and moved to Walden, NY, becoming the Walden Hummingbirds. Overall, the club finished dead last at 27-89-1.
The team played at Delano Hitch Stadium which still stands today much as it did when the Hummingbirds played there. The ballpark is located just off of downtown Newburgh.
