Biographical Information[edit]

Michael Pluijmers has played in the Hoofdklasse.

Pluijmers hit .250/.280/.458 for the Netherlands in the 2007 European Junior Championship and fielded .952; he scored six runs and drove in five in five games. He led his team in runs, tied for 5th in the event. In 2008, he participated in the MLB European Academy. That season, he made his Hoofdklasse debut, hitting .215/.331/.262 for RCH and fielding .966 as their starting second baseman. He finished third in the 2008 Hoofdklasse in fielding at 2B, behind Benjamin Dille and René Cremer.

In 2009, the 20-year-old put up a .242/.306/.314 for Mr. Cocker HCAW and fielded .948 at second. His 12 errors led the league's second sackers. He hit three triples, tied for third, one behind co-leaders Cremer and Eldrion Regina. During 2010, the Alkmaar native fell to .924 in fielding and hit .305/.390/.357. He was 8th in the league with 47 hits and led the entire circuit with 17 errors.

Pluijmers made the North roster for the 2011 Hoofdklasse All-Star Game and went 1 for 2 after replacing Roeland Henrique at second base (Henrique moved to center field at the time).
