Biographical Information[edit]

Matt McSwain is a minor league pitcher.

McSwain was undrafted out of college and was signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2006. He pitched two games that year for the GCL Pirates, tossing four hitless, scoreless innings and winning a contest. In 2007, he pitched for the GCL Bucs (1-0, Sv, 4.50 in 2 G) and the Hickory Crawdads (3-2, 5.59). In '08, McSwain was with Hickory (4-5, 4 Sv, 2.17, 13 BB in 70 2/3 IP) and the Lynchburg Hillcats (2-2, Sv, 5.02).

McSwain started the 2009 Lynchburg Hillcats season 6-1 and was 6-3 with a 3.00 ERA at the halfway point, walking only 11 and giving up just two homers in 78 innings. He was 7th in the 2009 Carolina League in ERA at the half.
