Biographical Information[edit]

Masahiro Abe began pitching for NDK in the industrial leagues in 2001, after finishing high school. He made the Japanese national team for the 2015 Asian Championship and pitched two games, working the least (1 1/3 IP) of any of their hurlers. He retired every one he faced. Relieving Daiki Tajima, he completed a six-inning mercy rule perfect game versus Pakistan, getting Fazal Ur Rehman on a grounder, Faqir Hussain on a fly and Muhammad Mohsin Jamil on a strikeout. He relieved Tomohito Sakai in the 7th inning against Taiwan, with two outs and a 2-1 deficit and fanned Yu-Cheng Chang. Junichi Katayama succeeded him in the 8th.
