Biographical Information[edit]

Kevin Elster was signed as a 2nd round pick in the January 1984 amateur draft by the New York Mets and scout Dean Jongewaard. He remained the Mets starting shortstop through 1992, when he an injury forced the Mets to replace him with Dick Schofield. Elster had replaced Rafael Santana.

In 1996, Elster set all-time single-season records for the most home runs and RBI from the ninth spot of the batting order, with 21 and 92 respectively.

Elster hit three home runs in the first official game at Pac Bell Park in San Francisco, CA on April 11th, 2000, while a member of the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers. It was the only three-homer game at the ballpark until Pablo Sandoval went yard three times in Game 1 of the 2012 World Series on October 24, 2012.

He played the role of Pat Corning in the 1994 movie, Little Big League.
