Kentaro Kyuko has pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Kyuko won only 3 games in college. He played for Nissan Motors in the industrial leagues. When the team dissolved, he pitched for Nihon Seishi. The Yakult Swallows took him in the 5th round of the 2010 NPB draft. Used as a LOOGY, he was 5-2 with a save as a rookie, pitching just 37 innings over 52 games. He got four votes for the 2011 Central League Rookie of the Year Award, well back of leader Hirokazu Sawamura (235 votes) but within sight of #2 Daiki Enokida (7).
He throws a slider, changeup, curveball, shuuto and fastball (peak 88 mph). He has a sidearm motion.
