Biographical Information

John Braun pitched two innings for the Milwaukee Braves on October 2, 1964, in the second game of a doubleheader against the Pittsburgh Pirates, allowing no runs. He was the same age as teammate Rico Carty and a year younger than fellow pitcher Denny Lemaster. He was 19 years younger than Hall of Famer Warren Spahn. With his one game stint, John became the first of four major league players (through 2019) with the last name Braun.

In 1963, John pitched for two minor league teams, the Greenville Braves and Boise Braves, posting an ERA well under 2.00 for each of them. He spent the 1964 season with the Denver Bears, going 6-5, 4.95 in 41 games as a reliever. He only pitched four more games after his lone big league appearance, with the Austin Braves in 1965.
