Biographical Information[edit]
Joe Brockhoff played two seasons in the New York Yankees organization, hitting well below .200 each year. He was 7 for 54 with a double for the 1958 Kearney Yankees and 1 for 6 for the 1959 St. Petersburg Saints. After his playing days, he had a more successful career as a college coach.
He was 76-16 as head coach of East Jefferson High School from 1968-1974, winning two state titles. Leading the Tulane University squad from 1975 to 1993, he led his teams to a 641-350-2 record. By 1979, he held Tulane's career win record. The team was one win from making the 1986 College World Series. He coached Steve Mura, Frank Wills, Gene Harris and Andy Sheets (among other future major leaguers).
