Biographical Information

Infielder Hernan Perez reached the majors with the Detroit Tigers in 2012.

Perez was signed by scouts Jesus Garces and Pedro Chavez for the Tigers in 2007. He made his pro debut in the Venezuelan Summer League the following year. He had a breakout season with the West Michigan Whitecaps in 2011, hitting .258 with 8 home runs.

After starting 2012 with the Lakeland Flying Tigers, Perez was called up to the majors in early June. He made his big league debut versus the Cincinnati Reds on June 9th, entering the game in the eighth inning as a pinch hitter and grounding out facing Sean Marshall. He played in another game the following day and then was sent back down to Lakeland.
