Biographical Information[edit]

Grover Powell appeared in 20 games for the New York Mets in 1963 with an ERA of 2.72.

Powell, from Pennsylvania, went to the Ivy League University of Pennsylvania where he was a star pitcher from 1960 to 1962. He had an arm injury playing winter ball in Venezuela after the 1963 major league season.

In the minors he was a reliever some years and a starter other years during a career that started in 1962 and ended in 1970. He returned to Penn and got his degree in economics in 1966.

He died of leukemia at age 44.
