Biographical Information[edit]

Iowa native Gene Ford spent only three seasons in professional baseball, 1935, 1936 and 1938.

He was in the minor leagues with the Peoria Tractors of the Three-I League in 1935 and went 2-5 in 15 appearances. He was back in the minors in 1936 with the Columbia Senators of the South Atlantic League and went 1-4 in eight appearances.

Ford was also given a short look by the big league Boston Bees on June 17, 1936, pitched two innings with no decision and a 4.50 ERA and did not play pro ball in 1937.

He was back in baseball with the Chicago White Sox in 1938 and appeared in four games with no decisions, pitching 14 innings with a 10.29 ERA and his pro career ended on August 27th of that year.

After baseball he farmed in the Emmetsburg, IA area from 1944 until his death. He died shortly after admission to the hospital on September 7, 1970.
