Biographical Information[edit]
First baseman Frank Jacobs played in the minor leagues from 1991 to 1995. He was drafted twice, first by the Houston Astros in the 18th round of the 1990 amateur draft, then by the New York Mets in the 7th round of the 1991 amateur draft, one pick after pitcher Carlton Loewer and two ahead of shortstop Tony Womack.
He showed fair pop, hitting 12 home runs his second campaign and 13 in 1994. 1995, his final campaign, ended up being his best -- in 120 games, including 19 in his only stay at Triple A, Jacobs hit .302/.412/.482 with 14 home runs, 70 RBI and 69 walks (to 63 strikeouts). He played in the Mets and Montreal Expos systems that year.
Overall, Jacobs hit .270/.355/.428 with 57 home runs and 288 RBI in 547 games over five seasons.
