Biographical Information[edit]

First baseman Frank Kristie played in the minor leagues from 1941 to 1942 and from 1947 to 1948, mostly in the Chicago Cubs' system. He hit only .216/.341/.287 his first year. In 1942, he batted .214/?/.297. He batted .245 and slugged .295 for the 1947 St. Augustine Saints.

Perhaps his best season was 1948, when he hit .271 with 112 hits for the Janesville Cubs and Marion Cubs. He also managed both teams that year, beginning the season as Janesville's skipper. Partway through the year, he swapped places with Marion's manager Lou Bekeza, going to Marion while Bekeza took over at Janesville. Overall, he hit .239 with 371 hits, 58 doubles, 12 triples and 16 home runs in 463 games.
