I emailed the gentleman that runs the website, he provided further info:

  • I'm not 100% certain but I believe it was from a Jan. 20, 1947 all-star game. In the box score, the two mangers are listed as playing: Gonzalez at catcher and Luque at pitcher for Mejor Almendares. According to Lou Hernandez's book, The Rise of the Latin American Baseball Leagues, 1947-61, the two "formed a batter in the last inning. ... the two rival managers shook hands" and Luque actually pitched to Gonzalez, giving up two hits but not allowing a run, and Gonzalez threw out a runner at third on an attempted double steal to end the inning. Both were 56 years old at the time.
