Biographical Information[edit]

Stanley Loáisiga played for the Nicaraguan national team for over a decade. His sons Jonathan Loáisiga and Mike Loáisiga have played professionally.

Loáisiga was 3 for 10 with a double in the 1997 Intercontinental Cup; the 21-year-old was Nicaragua's backup left fielder. A backup 1B-OF in the 1998 Baseball World Cup, he was 4 for 9 with a double, two runs and 3 RBI. He went 0 for 9 with four strikeouts during the 1998 Haarlem Baseball Week.

Stanley helped Nicaragua take Gold in the 2006 Central American Games and was named the All-Star left fielder. He hit .385 for Nicaragua in the 2006 Central American and Caribbean Games. In the 2007 Pan American Games, he was 3 for 11 for Nicaragua, well behind outfield teammate Justo Rivas but much better than the oh-fers put up by the other two flyhawks, Danilo Sotelo and Eddy Talavera.

In the 2008 Americas Baseball Cup, the veteran was only 2 for 18 with a double and a walk as a 1B-DH for the Nicaraguan squad; his country still won a spot in the 2009 Baseball World Cup.
