Biographical Information[edit]

Eric Martins was a scout in Southern California (2007-2014) for the Oakland Athletics (signing Matt Chapman and A.J. Griffin) before becoming a minor league coach.

An infielder, he played in the minor leagues form 1994 to 2003. The last three of those years, he was in the independent leagues before moving over to Nettuno in the Italian Serie A1 for a year in 2004. he was a 17th-round choice by the Athletics in the 1994 amateur draft, and all of his years in the affiliated minor leagues were spent in their organization, including four seasons in AAA.

Martins became hitting coach of the Midland RockHounds in 2015, Nashville Sounds in 2016-2018, and Las Vegas Aviators in 2019. In 2020, he moved up to the major league team as assistant hitting coach and was named first base coach in 2022. In 2023, he moved over to third base coach.
