Biographical Information[edit]

Ed Bahr was in the majors from May 1, 1946 to July 4, 1947, with the Pittsburgh Pirates, but he was a busy guy during that time period. He appeared in 46 games, starting 25, and posted a record of 11-11. In his first season, his ERA was an excellent 2.63, while in his second year, it dipped to 4.59. His main teammates included Ralph Kiner and Fritz Ostermueller. Bahr also went 10-6 on the 1948 Indianapolis Indians, one of the great minor league teams that went 100-54.

During World War II, Bahr served in the US Navy. In 1945, he received a medical discharge after injuring his back.

Only seven major leaguers have been born in Saskatchewan (through 2006), and Bahr is the only one from Rouleau. Bahr and Lefty Wilkie were the only Saskatchewan natives who were teammates in the majors (on the 1946 Pirates). However, Bahr actually grew up in Seattle, WA. Away from the diamond, his hobbies included fishing and training dogs.
