Biographical Information[edit]

Bill Deegan appeared in two games in the major leagues in August 1901, for the New York Giants managed by George Davis. Christy Mathewson was in his first full season as a pitcher. Deegan pitched 17 innings, giving up 27 hits. He had a record of 0-1.

Davis must have liked players who were hard of hearing, because in addition to Deegan, the team also had Luther Taylor and George Leitner. All three were given the derogatory nickname "Dummy".

After baseball Deegan became a welder. [1]
