Biographical Information[edit]

American-born Don Knapp is notable for his work in Australian baseball.

Don Knapp played high school baseball at Lake Oswego High School, near Portland, OR, where he was an all-state catcher. He played four years of college baseball at the University of Oregon, becoming the team's starting catcher his final two seasons. After his graduation in 1972, he moved to Australia. He won the Helms Award in 1972.

In the 1978 Amateur World Series, Knapp went 0 for 5 with an assist and error as a backup left fielder for the Australian national team. Don later managed Australia in the 1996 Olympics and has been CEO of the Australian Baseball Federation. In 2008, he was inducted into the Baseball Australia Hall of Fame.
