Biographical Information[edit]

Dioni Soriano has pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Soriano was in the Hiroshima Carp Dominican Academy in 2006. He played for a Chinese team affiliated with the Carp later in '06. He played for the Kochi Fighting Dogs of the Shikoku-Kyushu Island League in 2007, then was with the 2008 Nagasaki Saints and the 2009 Tokushima Indigo Sox, going 7-18 in his three seasons in the SKIL.

Dioni joined the Carp organization in July 2009 in the minors. He was promoted in May 2010 and debuted in an interleague game on May 26, relieving Jumpei Shinoda with a 9-1 deficit. He allowed a hit to fellow rookie Ikuhiro Kiyota but otherwise had a perfect inning before being removed in the 9th. The Carp were obviously hoping he would turn out to be as good as their last player named Soriano, Alfonso Soriano.

Diori's repertoire features a fastball (peak 91 mph), slider and changeup.
