Biographical Information[edit]

IF/OF Chris Hayes was a four year starter at Jacksonville University and was two time All-Sun Belt Conference. He was drafted in the 35th round of the 1994 amateur draft and the 28th round of the 1995 amateur draft. He signed with the Toronto Blue Jays after the second draft and spent five seasons in their minor league system, reaching AA Knoxville Smokies in 1999.

Hayes then turned to coaching. He was an assistant coach at Samuel W. Wolfson High School in 2002-2003 and Jacksonville U. in 2004-2008. He got his first head coaching job at Seminole State College of Florida from 2009 to 2013.

Hayes then returned to Jacksonville U. yet again as assistant coach from 2014 to 2016. He was then promoted to head coach in 2017. Jacksonville won the Atlantic Sun Conference tournament in 2021 and he took the school to the College World Series Regionals in 2018 and 2021.
