Biographical Information[edit]

Charlie Robinson hit reasonably well for the 1884 Indianapolis Hoosiers, batting .288 in 20 games. Not bad for a catcher. Indianapolis was not in the American Association the next year, and Charlie played in eleven games for the 1885 Brooklyn Grays. However, he hit .150. He was briefly with several minor league teams in 1884 and 1886.

Another catcher named Robinson, Hall of Famer Wilbert Robinson, broke into the majors in 1886, in the American Association.

Charlie was one of the earliest major leaguers born in Rhode Island.
