Cedric Bassel played for Germany in the 2003 European Junior Championship, hitting .227/.292/.227. He joined the Regensburg Legionäre that year and went 3 for 9 with a walk, 5 RBI and 3 steals in 4 tries as a backup catcher to Markus Gienger. In a similar role in 2004, he was 3 for 18. Playing DH in '05, he hit .180/.276/.200. In 2006, he moved to the outfield and hit .329/.451/.390. He scored 32 runs in 26 games, finishing third in the southern Bundesliga-1 behind two American imports.

In 2007, Cedric hit .261/.375/.464 as Regensburg's center fielder. In the same role the next year, he batted .301/.398/.398 as the team won their first Bundesliga pennant. He was only 1 for 17 in the 2008 European Cup Regensburg hosted as they finished 4th. In the 2009 European Cup, he was 0 for 8 with four strikeouts, a walk and an error.

Bassel is on Germany's preliminary 40-man roster for the 2009 Baseball World Cup.
