I wonder if the shortened season will lead to fewer debuts or the constant shuffle of players being sidelined by COVID will lead to more debuts. - Mischa (talk) 15:49, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

Well, it's starting with a bang! I expect that expanded rosters, a greater frequency of players not being available, and the wish to have some players at the alternate training site see some game action means there will be quite a few newcomers this year. Philippe (talk) 15:52, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

Another thought - no one can impress at AAA to get people to say "hey, let's call him up!" Hopefully everyone will stay healthy. I find it interesting how the ump had to wear a facemask to argue with the manager but not to make calls behind home plate - aren't they within 6' of the catcher?? - Mischa (talk) 16:00, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

We're already at 50 names after five days; last year, we did not reach that number until April 23rd - almost a month into the season. Philippe (talk) 17:11, 28 July 2020 (UTC)

And now, we're over 100, three weeks into the season! Philippe (talk) 13:13, 16 August 2020 (UTC)

63 debuts needed in two weeks to match 2019. - Mischa (talk) 15:52, 18 September 2020 (UTC)

The 200 line has now been crossed, in less than two months. Ten days left to go, so I think last year's 261 is out of reach, but I expect to add some 20 or so names before the season is through. Philippe (talk) 13:56, 19 September 2020 (UTC)
