Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Cadyn Gorman was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in Competitive Balance Round A of the 2018 amateur draft, with the 37th overall pick, out of Oregon State University. Three years earlier, the St. Louis Cardinals had taken him in the 21st round of the 2015 amateur draft, but he had opted to go to college instead of the pros.

He had a great three-year run at Oregon State, topping it with a .319 average in 68 games as a junior in 2018. He appeared in both the 2017 College World Series and 2018 College World Series, winning the tournament and being named its All-Star shortstop the second year. He was also a member of the USA College National Team.

He began his professional career in 2018 with 43 games with the Delmarva Shorebirds of the South Atlantic League, but hit just .216/.297/.333. In 2019, he began the season with Delmarva before a late-year promotion to the Frederick Keys of the Carolina League. Between the two stops, he played 106 games and hit .244/.355/.384. He then missed the 2020 season as the minor leagues were shut down by the Coronavirus pandemic.
