Team Bio[edit]
The Butler Blue Sox were a founder member of the Prospect League in 2009. Home games are played at Pullman Park in Butler, PA. As a team, the Butler Blue Sox are dedicated and designed to provide minor league level competition for NCAA players that wish to continue on into professional baseball as with all other summer collegiate teams. The Blue Sox operate in the model a Minor League team: playing nightly before fans in stadiums, using wood bats and minor league specification equipment, and experiencing road trips between games. Like all other summer collegiate players, the Blue Sox are unpaid in order to maintain their NCAA eligibility, and live with host families in the same manner as Single A and Independent League players. Unique to the Summer Collegiate Baseball experience is the relationship between the Butler Blue Sox and the Frontier League. The Blue Sox General Manager, Leo Trich, is the former Director of Development for the Frontier League. The Blue Sox consider it part of there mission to work at making sure that players develop and sharpen their skills in a highly competitive environment while the management does all it can to gain players additional exposure. The unique relationship with the Frontier League allows the league's coaching staffs and management to quickly become aware of Blue Sox players who excel. This is an intentional design on the part of Blue Sox management in an effort to move their players up to the next level.
