Biographical Information

Bert Griffith is the grandfather of Matt Williams. Griffith died in Bishop, CA, while Williams was born there.

In one of the odder duos in baseball history, Griffith split the right-field job with Tommy Griffith, who was unrelated, on the Brooklyn Robins in 1922. They alternated in the #3 spot in the batting lineup and early in the year both were in the top 10 in the National League in batting average.
